The difference between rich and poor will become even larger in a matter of days.

Speaking of which why not have taxation?

A tax of 3% on your net worth every day, if you stop for a month you are dead!

Although I completely disagree with the original idea, which would primarily benefit those who are already rich (just withdraw your interest every day to buy up a few ecto and keep the prices high), it does have open up one entertaining idea....

*puts on half moon glasses and tweed jacket with leather elbows*

Banks paying interest is a very modern concept. Historically, if you wished to store money in their secure environment you would have to pay them a fee for doing do. Like medieval banks, Xunlai Agents are storage houses, not investment corporations. All they are doing is keeping your property safe.

Therefore, if you want to get the GW economy under control, Xunlai could charge a regular fee for storage, based on the quantity of cash they hold for you, automatically deducted each week (with no fee or just a peppercorn payment if you have less than 25k for example).

*takes off history prof fancy dress and fake beard*

Seriously, I would not advocate anything that would annoy people as much as this, but it would be a better game balancing measure than making the rich even richer.

Guys, if there was interest it would NOT be x% daily! At best it would be per month - realistically per year.

But I think that there won't be such a feature yet. If they had some sort of investment scheme where your money was put at a risk, perhaps. Before that some sort of gambling area would be better

Personally I don’t see what the big problem is anyway. The rich where once people like you moaning about being poor. But what did they do about? Work for there money. How would you feel if you spent god know how long trying to get all this money then 3moths down the line Anet introduced interest rates.

I’m sorry but it’s stupid. Nothing would be achieved. The poor get richer. The richer get even richer. And the same people that was with the idea of interest rates would soon complain that the rich then suddenly invested in something else and then the lesser rich people would then moan at the fact that they didn’t catch on fast enough.

Then bang new thread on here with more poor people moaning about the rich people investing in better stuff to keep there money. Think about it. It won’t fix the problem just shift it along for a few months and the possible even make it worse. Besides I don’t understand what the big deal is about being poor.

This may sound stupid but half the fun is trying to get money. Wheres the fun in being able to buy the best equipment straight way and being able to crush every enemy in the local area in 3 blows. That’s ruins the game in my opinion. And I’m sure there are other people in these forums that agree with me

I'm going to leave you with a quote from possible the lamest lyrists around 50 Cent
‘Get rich or die trying’

Maybe more monthly... but certainly not daily... In any case Arenanet has said many times its not about the goodies... and that they play it almost exclusively with collector (free) items and do just as well in game... So being uber rich, is convenient yes... but not necessary. And since Anet has gone to great effort to make many gold SINKS, to pull gold out of the economy, it seems silly to do the opposite and encourage more farming in order to gain more gold through bogus interest rates... Is it an interesting economic idea? yes... Should it be considered? sure... Will it happen? I doubt it... Sorry...

That just a little to real world and will surely be abused by gold resellers... Imaging having 500K in like 200 accounts... Those gold resellers would quickly have renewable streams of gold to use for resale on the internet... And they would no longer have to hire out farmers to gather gold for them eventually... They would just pull for interest bearing Storages...

For that reason alone I feel it will not be picked up. Arenanet has enough problems with gold resellers, that they would not want to make it even easier for them to operate. If Arenanet ever wants to sell gold themselves, that's up to them and its their IP to do so. And I'm sure some would do it at that point if they did... but until that time. No way. Anything that helps those people that constantly break the EULA and the Rules of Conduct agreement just is not needed... Not saying that you do or anything, But I know of several dozen players that have had their accounts Locked or Reset for such activity... These companies are doing this with no regard for the product, or its players. Want to blame someone for a particular Nerf or skill change? Blame the Gold Resellers.. Cause its them that are doing it to the MMO communities to fight their activities... not the other way around...

WHY!? What's the damn point?

If you want to save money, put it in that same storage and just don't bloody touch it. If you want MORE money, go play the damn game and earn it.

Sorry if I came off harsh, but this is the most ridiculous idea I've ever heard of for a game where money does not play such a huge role at all.

at 5% intrest, you wouldn't have 135 gp if you had 100 gp in there the first day. It'd be more. Why? Because 5% of 105 and so on isn't going to be off your original 100. It'll build off of itself.
